Keep up to date on the ongoing struggles by doing Google news searches of marriage equality. Keep a class log of updates from the states where marriage equality is being challenged.

This lesson contains objectives and assessment criteria regarding knowledge of civil rights in the context of the American constitution. However there is a lot of interesting resources around marriage equality and of course, the subject is as relevant in UK today as it is in US. Elements of the lesson could be used if devising a marriage equality lesson which compared the achievement of Britain’s Civil Partnerships Law with America’s marriage equality battle.
